Special Projects Teambuilding

Image
11 March 2009 It has been almost 5 months since I started working with RasGas in the Special Projects team. I must say that my relationships with the other members in the team are strictly professional. I have no major problems interacting with anyone of them, but I can feel that there is a gap between us. Nothing malicious, but rather you do your thing I do mine kind of feel. We came from different backgrounds and nationalities with age difference sometime as big as a generation. We have representatives from Venezuela, Britain, India, United States, Qatar, Lebanon, Italy and Me Malaysia. So the idea of organising this team building programme is to be applauded. It will provide a platform for us to interact with each other outside the work environment. We must overcome our cultural differences if we were to be a dynamic team. We departed to Qatar Bowling Centre from Ras Laffan at 1.30pm after a short briefing. Marwan was kind enough to give me a ride. I had a chance to chat and get...

Tetiba kena tag.. papetah

Huhu Anton tagged me with thing. I never done this thing so called tag. Anyway this is how the result reads: Your view on yourself: You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties. The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for: You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true. Your readiness to commit to a relationship: You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person. The seriousness of your love: You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love. Your views on education Education is less important than the real w...

TIESTO Live in DOHA

Image
Yesterday must have been the most happening day since I land my feet in Doha. The day started with a half day work, then I had a teambuilding programme which include bowling and dinner on a dhow cruise around Doha Bay. The programme finished at 9pm. I rushed home, quickly changed and went straight to the Intercontinental Beach for an event that I have been anxiously waiting for weeks. TIESTO LIVE in DOHA. Being a trance music lover, Tiesto is to me a creme de la creme of the industry. His music is the epitome of what trance should sounds like. He is the world's best DJ and despite all the accolades he remains humble and keep on writing great music. His performance during the 2004 Athens Olympic Opening Ceremony catapult him to a global stardom. How often do you see trance music as a background of the athlete parade? The theme song, " Traffic" was so hauntingly captivating it stuck in my head until now. I missed both of his concerts in Malaysia in 2006 and 2008. So I am n...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Image
I finally had a chance to watch this movie this afternoon. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button  was based on a 1921 short story by F Scott Fitzgerald. I arrived at the cinema when the movie was about to start. I was hungry and at 2 p.m. I still have not taken my lunch. I can practically hear the symphony orchestra from my stomach. I thought of getting something to eat first but I hate arriving late at the movies as a courtesy not to disturb other patrons and I was not planning to miss anything from the movie. So I went in, hungry. As soon as the movie starts, I was taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I gave all my attention and focus to the silver screen like I was the only one in the theatre. This movie may be a little too slow and absurd for some. But this is exactly what I am looking for in a movie, good story, great production and stellar performance from the actors. I guess most of the audience at the cinema today agreed with me. Why I said that? For the first time I did ...

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Image
Last Tuesday, back from work, I went to City Centre Mall to replenish my cigarette stock. Since I was already at the mall I thought I should have dinner and check on the movies. So I went to the Grand Cinecentre . My initial plan was to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button , but I was 20 minutes late. The next movie showing in 15 minutes was the Shopaholic. Well, I do not mind some light and easy chick flicks. They are just what you need after a stressful day at work. I bought the ticket and had just enough time for dinner at Mc D. Perfect timing. The movie was based on a book by Sophie Kinsella . Well, she is one of my favourite authors by the way and I have not read this one yet. Her books had always put a smile on my face. She is always have interesting characters in her books, most of the time uncanny.  You may read the synopsis  here .   Apart from the very predictable story line, I thoroughly enjoyed watching th...

Tak Nak Buat Lagi..

I just hate it when it happens. It happened before but not as bad as it was today. I was overslept, missed the bus and late for work. I was still managed to board the 5.45 am bus the last time I was late, though I had to do without shower and wore a very casual polo tee and jeans to work. But today I woke up at 6.34 am. I do not know how I did that. How could I managed to turned off 2 alarm clocks and continued sleeping? It must be my body clock. I usually retire at 10.30 pm and wake up at 4.45 am. But I went to bed at 12.30 am last night thanks to the late kick off of the EPL. There was no point of me rushing to catch the bus at Al-Haya which is just across the street as both busses had left at 5.45 and 5.50 am. I managed to get a cab and heading straight to the Kahramaa Parking at Al Dafna hoping to catch the 7.00 am bus. But I was 4 minutes too late. My last hope down to catch the bus from Doha Golf Club (DGC) which will leave at 7.15...

What? Is it March already??

Image
Time really flies eh. February gone so quick I did not even remember its arrival. What have I  done really. Maybe because it is the shortest month in a year. What I did in February? Hmm maybe I was too busy collecting references for my masters project and busy catching up with the workloads at work. Honestly I am still in a holiday mood. Two weeks in Kl, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and JB really spoilt me. Yes I went for that visit to Down Under fresh from the Italian Job vacation I had 2 weeks earlier. Like a drug addict, I hunger for more. I wish I could travel every month. I was planning to actually. I was intended to have a weekend getaway to some place near. A hop from Qatar. I was contemplating on visiting Abu Dhabi or Alexandria until my laptop given up on me. So without a second thought I went to an Apple store at City Centre Mall after work three weeks ago and bought myself a MacBook, CASH. What pissed me off was, my old laptop works just fine when I try to pull some f...
